6428a.jpg

Production:  1960, 1961, 1965 & 1966

History
The 6428 Post Office car is one of the few examples where Lionel introduced a non-operating version of a car after an operating version was produced. In this case, the operating 3428 Post Office car was introduced in 1959 and the non-operating version was introduced the following year.

The 6428 is an attractive car. Its bright red, white and blue colors has made this a favorite for both the collectors and operators.

Features
The 6428 is a 6464 style type IV box car. Standard features include a gray shell painted red, white and blue with black and white lettering, multi-block sliding doors, AAR trucks with dual operating couplers plus a single brakewheel.
