6311 Flatcar w/ Pipes

6311a.jpg

Production: 1955

History
The 6311 is a one year only item. It was introduced in 1955 as a scaled-down version of the 6511 flatcar. The target audience of the 6311 was introductory or starter sets. Although it did meet that objective for the year, Lionel was able to further reduce their cost in 1956 with the introduction of the 6111 and 6121 flatcars.

The 6311 is a hard item to locate, especially in collector condition.

Features
The 6311 flatcar with pipes contains the following standard features: plastic flatcar painted brown with white lettering, bar-end metal trucks with operating couplers, six metal stakes, a brakestand and brakewheel plus three plastic simulated pipes.
