6343 Barrel Ramp Car

6343a.jpg

Production:  1961 & 1962

History
The 6343 Barrel Ramp car was introduced in 1961. It is an unusual looking car and not based upon any real-life railroad car. This whimsical freight car is another excellent example where the creativity of the Lionel designers were able to use current production inventory in order to construct a totally new freight car. The end result being a new freight car for practically no research or development cost.

Features
The 6343 ran unchanged for its two prodution years. Standard features include: red molded flatcar with white lettering, two operating AAR trucks, a gray barrel holding superstructure, simulated footsteps at each corner, a brakestand and brakewheel plus six stained barrels.

Additional Detail, Photos & Box Information
