History
The 6818 Transformer car was offered by Lionel for only one year, 1958. Although the 6818 only lasted one year, it is fairly easy to locate one as it was regularly included in many of the 1958 sets. The car was also available as a separate sale item.

Like all Lionel transformer cars, the transformer coils are extremely fragile. It is very difficult to find this car with an original transformer and original, in-tact and unbroken coils.

Features
The 6818 Transformer car has the following standard features: unpainted red flatcar with white lettering, AAR trucks with two operating couplers, a black transformer with white lettering plus a brakewheel stand and brakewheel.
