6825 Flatcar w/ Trestle
Production: 1959 - 1962
History
The 6825 Flatcar with Arch Trestle is another example where Lionel engineers used existing parts from other products to create a new freight car. In the case of the 6825, Lionel used the basic flatcar produced by Lionel in the late 1950's and added an HO scale arch trestle as the freight load.
The flatcar with arch trestle is a basic freight car and one of the easier flatcars to locate with an original load. This is due to the arch trestle being larger and more durable compared to many of the smaller, more fragile Space and Military loads on other 6800-series freight cars.
Features
Standard features of this car include: unpainted red flatcar with white lettering, a brakewheel stand and brakewheel, corner footsteps, AAR trucks with operating couplers plus a trestle. An elastic band was used to secure the trestle to the freight car.
Original trestles were produced in either gray or black, with neither color being rare or hard to find.
