The 1962 Lionel consumer catalogue has the distinction of being the largest catalogue ever printed during either the prewar or postwar era. At 100 pages, it included every product line: racing cars, science kits, tool kits, record & tape players -- and even some trains!
Lionel's train and accessory line continued to focus on space and military related items. The days of adding a prototypical box car, tanker or gondola were almost gone. Space-age cars, unique military graphics, whimsical operating items and odd freight cars were now the norm.
