SP Style

Welcome to the Lionel Trains Library section if their website focusing on Southern Pacific style cabooses. This caboose style was introduced in 1947 and remained in the product line until the end of the postwar era: 1969. During that production run, this style caboose was offered with the lowest of low trim levels -- basically no trim at all -- all the way up to the top-of-the-line 6457, 6557 and 6657 cabooses. These top tier cabooses generally had a combination of multiple features such as;  simulated side tool boxes, dual functional couplers, interior lighting, die-cast smoke stack, functional smoke stack, dual metal ladders as well as a handful of nice, prototypical paint schemes.
