164-64 Set of Logs

Quantity:

Product Description

Production: 1952 - 1958

History
Lionel manufactured several logging accessories and freight cars during the 1940's and 1950's. The accessories included the 164 and 364 log loaders as well as the 3451 and 3461 log dump freight cars. Experience collectors believe Lionel introduced the 164-64 separate sale logs in 1952 as a reaction to customers asking Lionel for replacement logs that were easily lost or misplaced.

The 164-64 separate sale logs are one of the hardest separate sale items to locate as the boxes were frequently discarded and the logs included with their corresponding accessory or freight car. Lionel always included five wooden logs in each box. As with many of the replacement parts offered by Lionel, the logs are readily available -- but a complete and intact box is much harder to locate. Additionally, for 1952 Lionel introduced the logs in an OPS Stamped Box, which was eliminated in 1953 and became the regular Middle Classic box. The OPS Stamped Box is truely rare.

Features
Standard features of the 164-64 Set of Logs include five stained logs.

Additional Detail, Photos & Box Information
