1877 General Flatcar w/ Horses

History
The 1877 General flatcar with six horses was introduced in 1959 with Lionel's General series, which depicted American trains from the late 1800's.

This freight car included several fragile components, which are usually either missing or damaged. The items include six horses which were always two brown, two black and two white horses. Additionally, there were two long sections of fence and eight smaller fence sections. Locating a complete, undamaged 1877 in collectable condition is difficult.

Finally, the horses were manufactured by Bachmann Brothers of Philadelphia. Each horse usually includes a 'BB' stamped onto their belly.

Features
The 1877 flatcar contains the following standard features: molded brown flatcar with yellow lettering, arch-bar trucks, six horses plus ten sections of fencing (two long sections and eight short sections). The couplers are usually operating couplers, but fixed couplers are sometimes found on this freight car.

The length of this type of flatcar is approximately 9.25" long (coupler to coupler).
