2036 Lionel Lines Prairie

Quantity:

Product Description

Production:  1950

History
Lionel classified the 2036 steam engine as a Prairie-type steamer. It is a mid-size locomotive and shares its boiler casting with several other Lionel locomotives: the 637, 2016, 2018, 2029 and 2037 steamers. Although the boiler castings are the same on these steamers, in most cases the internal workings are slightly different.

This Prairie locomotive is a lower cost engine compared to other Lionel Prairie steam locomotives. Lionel usually included an illuminated headlight, Magnetraction, functional smoke unit, three-position E-unit and a whistling tender with their Prairie steamers. The 2036, however, lacked the functional smoke unit.

The 2036 was only produced for a single year. It was available as a separate sale item as well as being included in one set from that year, set 1463W, a three-car freight set.

Features
The 2036 has the following standard features: 2-6-4 wheel arrangement, black boiler with white numbers, limited driving wheel hardware, three-position E-unit, magnetraction, sheet metal trailing truck plus an illuminated headlight and an ornamental bell. The 2016 does not have a functional smoke unit.

The 2036 was always produced with a 6466W Lionel Lines whistling tender.

Additional Detail, Photos & Box Information
The length of a 2036 is approximately 10 1/4" (pilot to drawbar). The combined length of a 2036 with the 6466W tender is approximately 19" long (cowcatcher to rear coupler).

Only Known Variation - Shown in first photo above - All 2036 steamers are painted black with a 2-6-4 wheel arrangement.
