Product Description
Production: 1960
History
Lionel's 228 Canadian National Alco A was one of the first uncatalogued locomotives Lionel produced to market to a specific part of the world. In the case of the 228, Lionel was looking to expand into the Canadian marketplace with an inexpensive locomotive. Although the 228 diesel was never the lead locomotive of a Lionel set, it is a reliable running locomotive. However, the 227 cannot be used for the long hauls as it is generally limited to three or four light freight cars!
Features
The 228 has a few more features compared to it's stripped down counterpart -- the 227. The 228 includes: painted green shell with yellow lettering, headlight, non-functional coupler on both the front and rear, two-axle magnetraction plus a two-position e-unit.
