2349 Northern Pacific

Quantity:

Product Description

Production:  1959 & 1960

History
The 2349 Northern Pacific GP9 diesel was a quality road switcher which Lionel produced for two years. Many consider this diesel as the most attractive and prototypically accurate paint scheme ever designed for a postwar GP diesel. This engine remains in demand today and continues to be extremely popular with collectors and operators.

For 1959, Lionel included the Northern Pacific diesel as the lead locomotive for one 027 freight set. Then in 1960, it's status quickly elevated as Lionel included the 2349 as the locomotive of choice for one of their Super O freight sets.

Features
The 2349 Milwaukee Road has the following standard features: predominately black painted shell with a red stripe and gold painted ends, three position E-unit, two-axle magnetraction, front and rear operating couplers, functional horn plus an illuminated headlight at each end and two exterior simulated horns. The sheet-metal frame is painted gold and has a black plastic simulated fuel tank is attached to its underside.

In addition to the gold Northern Pacific numbers and lettering on each side, there is Radio Equipped lettering stamped in red on each side.
