History
The gold-striped aluminum passenger cars were manufactured for five years and sadly, were the final all-new extruded aluminum passenger cars to be introduced by Lionel during its postwar era. These passenger cars are commonly referred to as the Presidential series as each passenger car carries the name of a former US president on the side.

The Presidential passenger cars were included in several O gauge and Super-O outfits in the early 1960's. For 1962, these passenger cars had either the 2360 Pennsylvania GG1 or 2383 Santa Fe F3 AA diesel at the front of their set. Beginning in 1963 and continuing through 1966, the only locomotive paired with the Presidential passenger cars was the 2383 Santa Fe F3. Lastly, Lionel sold all Presidential sets with four car sets and included either two vista domes or two pullman passenger cars within each outfit.

• 2521 President McKinley Observation
• 2522 President Harrison Vista Dome
• 2523 President Garfield Pullman

Features
Standard features on the Presidential series of passenger cars include: unpainted extruded aluminum bodies, plastic end caps, dual gold side stripes with black lettering (Pennsylvania at the top and the President's name in the middle), silhouetted window strips, die-cast passenger car trucks with functional couplers plus dual interior lights.
