Product Description
Production: 1955 & 1956
History
The Pennsylvania aluminum passenger cars were only manufactured for two years; 1955 & 1956. These passenger cars are commonly referred to as the Congressional series and remain in demand today by both collectors and operators.
The Congressional passenger cars were included in only two O gauge sets; one in 1955 and a follow up in 1956. In each year, Lionel chose a tuscan GG-1 as the lead locomotive for the outfit; the 2340 GG-1 in 1955 and the 2360 GG-1 in 1956. Additionally, each set was Lionel's top-of-the-line set for that year and is somewhat noteworthy as both sets had a MSRP price of $100 -- Lionel's first ever set to hit the $100 price tag!
Included in the Pennsylvania series of passenger cars are:
- 2541 Alexander Hamilton Observation
- 2542 Betsy Ross Vista Dome
- 2543 William Penn Pullman
- 2544 Molly Pitcher Pullman
