History
The 3510 Satellite Launching Car is a one year only item: 1962. It only appeared in the advanced consumer catalogue and not the regular consumer catalogue for the year, but did appear in about eight promotional outfit for 1962.

During the 1960s, Lionel had built three different satellite launching car. Of the three -- 3509 (1961 - 1962), 3510 (1962) and 3519 (1961 - 1964) -- the 3510 is the most difficult to locate.

Features
Standard features of the 3510 include: unpainted red flatcar with white lettering, arch-bar trucks, non-operating couplers plus a brakewheel stand and four corner footsteps. Although a brakewheel stand was always included, the inclusion of a brakewheel was not always standard practice.

A satellite launching mechanism was mounted in the center of the car. This mechanism has the ability to launch the satellite several feet in the air! In addition to this structure, a yellow satellite dish and launchable satellite was always included with the car.

Additional Detail, Photos & Box Information
The number 3510 does not appear on the flatcar. Also, an original box for this item does not exist as it was only available in set # 11011. The length of this flatcar is approximately 11 1/4" long (coupler to coupler).

Only Known Variation - Shown in first photo above - All are unpainted red flatcars with a satellite launching mechanism mounted in the center.
