362 Barrel Ramp

History
The 362 Barrel Ramp was introduced in 1952 and enjoyed a long six-year production cycle. During this time, the features of the accessory remained constant.

The 362 Barrel Ramp was originally designed to be used with a Lionel gondola. Beginning in 1954, Lionel introduced a new freight car specifically designed for use with the barrel ramp. This car -- the 3562 Operating Barrel Car -- could unload barrels directly from the car to the accessory.

Operation of the 362 is relatively simple. Barrels are unloaded onto the lower portion of the ramp by an operating barrel car. The accessory will 'carry' the barrels to the upper portion of the ramp and then load a waiting freight car. Movement of the barrels is via a cleverly designed vibration motor assembly. This accessory is a well designed item and has proven to be very reliable.

Features
The 362 Barrel Ramp includes the following standard features: gray plastic base with brown fencing, yellow sheet-metal ramp, man, tilting gate and six stained barrels.

Also included with the accessory was a 364C controller switch and a set of six stained barrels. The barrels were packed in their own individual box numbered 362-78.

The approximate size of the 362 Barrel Ramp is 4" wide, 4" high and 19" long.

White Man - Shown in first photo above - Assumed to be 1952 and 1953 production. The white man is somewhat harder to locate than the blue man. Original white men were available with either a painted or an unpainted face.
Blue Man (Second photo above) - Assumed to be the standard production color from 1953 to 1957 and is more common than the white figure. Original blue men are also found with either a painted or an unpainted face.
