- 413 Countdown Control Panel
Product Description
Production: 1962
History
For 1962, the Lionel engineering department created yet another new item simply by reusing existing manufactured parts. In the case of the 413 Countdown Control Panel, the engineers reused most of the parts from the 175 Rocket Launcher controller to create a new, although crude, timer with an on/off push button. When purchased, this control panel could be used with any Lionel accessory requiring a push-button on switch. Although the 413 does not require electricity to operate the countdown panel, the Fire button does complete an electrical circuit when depressed.
As with many Lionel items from the 1960s, poor sales and low production numbers have created rare items in todays collector market. This is definitely true for the 413 as it is a scarce item to locate today in collector condition. Additionally, the original box for a 413 is almost impossible to locate, especially in collector condition.
Features
The 413 Countdown Control Panel has the following standard features: gray plastic base, black lettering and numbers plus red controller buttons and timer indicator. The base is steel with two electrical posts.
