History
The 494 Rotary Beacon Tower was an improved version of the popular 394 Rotary Beacon Tower. The 494 included a continually rotating beacon top through the installation of a vibration driven motor assembly.
The vibration assembly was a significant improvement over the 394 heat-driven tower. Most operators prefer the improved reliability of the 494.
Features
The 494 Rotary Beacon Tower includes the following standard features: stamped metal structure, metal ladder, vibration driven assembly plus a beacon top with a red and green lens.

Painted Red Steel Tower - Shown in first photo above - The most common variation.
Unpainted Steel Tower (Second photo above) - A hard to find variation.
Painted Red Tower, Unpainted Steel Top (Third photo above) - A legitimate factory variation and the most difficult 494 tower to locate. Assumed to be produced in late 1956 or early 1957 in an attempt to use up remaining parts inventory.
