Product Description
Production: 1958 - 1962
History
Conceptually, the 52 Fire Car is based upon the popular 50 Gang Car. It is designed to run independently, back-n-forth on its own section of track and provided a unique experience -- something a typical freight or passenger train was unable to do on a layout. Unfortunately for Lionel, the popularity of this item never achieved the same success as the Gang Car. As a result, locating a nice, complete and undamaged 52 Fire Car in today's market is difficult and more costly compared to the Gang Car.
The 52 Fire Car is a reliable and durable item. With only general maintenance, the Fire Car has proven to be a solid and reliable performer.
Features
The 52 Fire Car includes the following standard features: red molded body with white lettering, rubberized fireman on a seat which swivels when changing direction, gray compressor, white outriggers, functional red warning light plus an ornamental bell and retractable fire hose.
There is a rubber bumper on each end which aids in the changing of direction of this motorized unit.
