6045 Cities Services or Lionel Lines

History
The 6045 Lionel Lines tank car is an uncatalogued tank car manufactured between 1959 and 1964. It appears Lionel manufactured this freight car specifically for uncatalogued sets -- which Lionel was just beginning to explore in the early 1960's for select distributers. Although it did apear in one advanced catalogued set in 1959 -- it never apeared in any consumer catalogued set for the six years of production.

Although the 6045 is an uncatalogued tank car, it is an interesting freight car to collect. There were four distinct variations produced, each having a different level of collectability in today's market. The Lionel Lines orange version is a very common freight car while the beige version is the most difficult to locate. Additionally, it is difficult to find the green Cities Services version in collectable condition.

Features
Standard features of the 6045 tank car include the following: an unpainted two dome tank car shell, metal frame and arch-bar style trucks with non-operating couplers.

Lionel Lines Gray Tank Car - This is a slightly harder variation to locate.

Lionel Lines Beige Tank Car (Second photo above) - This is a harder variation to locate.

Cities Services Tank Car - This is somewhat difficult to locate as it was produced for only a single year: 1960.
