6149 Remote Uncoupling Track: 027 Gauge

History
The 6149 Remote Control Uncoupling Track was the final 027 remote control section of track created by Lionel during the postwar era. To help reduce production costs, the design of the 6019 remote control track was simplified to be two outside 027 rails with a modified center rail having an uncoupling activation unit built into the track. Usage of the track was limited to only uncoupling or activating freight cars with a center rail activation unit.

It is interesting to note the push button controller included with the 6149 section of track is a Lionel HO component, part # 0190-25. Due to its small size, this component is frequently missing plus the plastic cover is fragile and when found is sometimes cracked or damaged.

Standard features of the 6149 track section include: two outside 027 rails, a modified center rail with an activation unit, gray ties plus a small plastic controller.
