- 629 Burlington
Product Description
Production: 1956
History
Lionel introduced the center cab switcher model to its product line in 1956 and the 629 Burlington road name was one of the initial three center cab locomotives available in 1956. Unfortunately, sales of Lionel's center cab switchers were poor and far less than expected and in just the following year, 1957, Lionel ended production of this model and no new center cab diesels were introduced during the remainder of the postwar era.
The 629 Burlington diesel did appear in one passenger set from 1956 as well as being available for separate sale.
Features
Standard features of the 629 Burlington center cab switcher include: red unpainted shell with white lettering, single-axle Magnetraction, die-cast trucks, metal end-railings, three-position E-unit, dual operating couplers plus an ornamental horn and bell. The 628 does not contain an illuminated headlight or functional horn.
