6311 Flatcar w/ Pipes

Quantity:

Product Description

Production: 1955

History
The 6311 was introduced in 1955 as a scaled-down and lower cost version of the 6511 flatcar. Although it did meet those objective for 1955, Lionel was able to further reduce their cost in 1956 with the introduction of the 6111 and 6121 flatcars with pipes. Thus the 6311 was retired after only a single year of production.

The 6311 is a hard item to locate, especially in collector condition. It was available as a separate sale item and included in only one 027 gauge freight set for the year -- which was led by the equally hard-to-find 2028 Pennsylvania GP-7 diesel.

Features
The 6311 flatcar with pipes contains the following standard features: plastic flatcar painted brown with white lettering, bar-end metal trucks with operating couplers, six metal stakes, a brakestand and brakewheel plus three plastic simulated pipes.
