History
The 634 Santa Fe NW2 diesel switcher was produced for several years in the early to mid 1960s. This diesel appeared in two 027 gauge consumer catalogue sets as well as one promotional 027 gauge outfit for Joe, The Motorist Friend retail store on the east coast of the US. Like many 1960 versions of the NW2 switcher, this switcher is a step down in quality when compared to its counterpart from the early 1950s.

Features
Standard features of the 634 include: blue unpainted body with yellow lettering, traction tire, two-position E-unit and non-operating front and rear couplers.

The 1963 version of this switcher contains yellow stripes on the cab. These strips were eliminated in 1964.

Additional Detail, Photos & Box Information
Other than the cab stripes on the 1963 version, some early 1965 versions have metal plates mounted on the interior of the cab, directly above the power truck. The metal plates were an attempt by Lionel to add weight to the diesel in an effort to improve its pulling power. Results were minimal and the plates were soon discontinued.

The length of the 600 is approximately 12 1/2" long (coupler to coupler).
