6343 Lionel

Quantity:

Product Description

Production:  1961 & 1962

History
The 6343 Barrel Ramp car was introduced in 1961. It is an unusual looking car and not based upon any real-life railroad car. This whimsical freight car is another excellent example where the creativity of the Lionel designers were able to use current production inventory in order to construct a totally new freight car. The end result being a new freight car for practically no research or development cost.

Lionel did include this new freight car in two sets for 1961, one with an Alco diesel and the second with a Scout steamer. However, in 1962 it was scaled back to be included in one one set -- which was headed up by an Alco diesel.

Features
The 6343 ran unchanged for its two production years. Standard features include: red molded flatcar with white lettering, two operating AAR trucks, a gray barrel holding superstructure, simulated footsteps at each corner, a brakestand and brakewheel plus six stained barrels.
