- 6405 Flatcar w/ Piggyback Van
Product Description
Production: 1961
History
The 6405 Flatcar with a single Piggyback Van was only available for a single year: 1961. This freight car was borrowed from the popular 1877 flatcar used in the Civil War series of railroad items manufactured by Lionel between 1959 and 1962 -- but updated with a new number and freight load.
The yellow van was manufactured in two variations. The difference being the early yellow variation (from 1961) does not include a round hole on the bottom to accommodate the tractor trailer hook-up available in the mid 1960's. The later variation of the yellow van (from 1964 / 1965) does include a hole on the bottom for the tractor trailer. The later variation is not the correct load for the 6405 flatcar.
Features
The 6405 flatcar contains the following standard features: molded brown flatcar with yellow lettering, arch-bar trucks plus a single yellow van. The couplers are usually operating couplers and the van does not include any side lettering nor decals.
Additional Detail, Photos & Box Information
The length of this type of flatcar is approximately 9.25" long (coupler to coupler).
