- 6464-100 Western Pacific
Product Description
Production: 1954 & 1955
History
The 6464-100 Western Pacific box car was one of six all-new 6464-series box cars offered by Lionel in 1954 -- which was only the second year of 6464 freight car production! In addition to being available as a separate sale box car, Lionel included the 6464-100 in only one outfit during its production cycle; an O gauge 1954 freight set lead by the 2321 Lackawanna FM Trainmaster diesel.
It's interesting to note this box car number also contains one of the rarest variations of the entire series. The common 6464-100 freight car is painted silver, has black lettering and a large yellow feather stretching across each side. The rare variation to this box car has an orange body, white lettering and a small blue feather printed to the left of the center door. This rare variation looks almost identical to the 6464-250 Western Pacific box car, but has a 6464-100 number printed on the freight car.
Features
The 6464-100 box car included the following standard features: silver exterior with black lettering and a large yellow feather printed on each side. Additionally, there is a sliding door on each side, bar-end trucks with operating couplers plus a single brakewheel.
