Product Description

Production:  1954 - 1956

History
The 6464-125 New York Central box car was one of six all-new 6464-series box cars offered in Lionel's second year of 6464 freight car production: 1954! This specific box car, with realistic and prototypical exterior paint and lettering, continues to be a favorite of operators and collectors.

This New York Central box car was only included in one set during its three year production run. For 1955, Lionel included this box car in a O gauge freigth set with the popular Illinois Central F3 being the lead locomotive.

Features
The 6464-125 box car included the following standard features: gray and red exterior colors with white lettering plus a sliding side door on each side which was always unpainted solid red. Finally, bar-end trucks with operating couplers were the norm with a single metal brakewheel mounted on one end.

Additional Detail, Photos & Box Information
The length of the 6464 style box car is approximately 10 1/2" long (coupler to coupler).

Only Known Variation - Shown in first photo above - Although there are minor differences regarding the painted exterior color (either gray, red or both), there is minimal difference in value regarding these variations.
