6467 Miscellaneous Car

Quantity:

Product Description

Production: 1956

History
The 6467 Miscellaneous Car was produced in only one year, 1956, and the freight car did not include any type of freight load. For the following two years -- 1957 and 1958 -- the car changed its number to 6477 and includes a set of gray pipes.

The 6467 flatcar, as would be any flatcar, is popular with operators and children. They enjoy creating their own loads to be carried around a layout. It's not uncommon to see a string of 6467 and 6477 Miscellaneous Cars, each with a different or unique homemade freight load.

Features
The 6467 contains the following standard features: unpainted red flatcar with white lettering, bar-end trucks with operating tab couplers, a molded black bulkhead at each end, four metal stakes plus a brakestand.

One unusual feature of this flatcar, as well as the 6477, is the number of brakewheels. Lionel generally mounted one brakewheel per freight car. For both the 6467 and 6477, there are three metal brakewheels on each car -- one on the brakestand and one on each bulkhead end!

Additional Detail, Photos & Box Information
The length of this type of flatcar is approximately 11 1/4" long (coupler to coupler).

Only Known Variation - Shown in the photo above - All 6467 flatcars are molded red with metal bar-end trucks.
