- 6500 Beechcraft Bonanza Transport Car
Product Description
Production: 1962
History
The 6500 Beechcraft Bonanza Transport Car is an attractive and popular freight car, but is also one of the rarest military and space freight loads of any postwar flatcar! Like most postwar military and space items, the value with this freight car is the airplane. Locating the flatcar is easy, but locating a complete and undamaged original airplane is extremely difficult.
The rarity of the flatcar is due to very low production numbers. It is assumed production of the 6500 was for only a portion of the 1962 year, possibly only 6 months.
Features
Standard features of this car include: unpainted black flatcar with white lettering, a brakewheel stand and brakewheel, corner footsteps, operating couplers and an airplane. This is one of only a few postwar items not to have the number printed or stamped on either the flatcar or its load.
The other oddity of this freight car is the color of the airplane.
- The more common color combination is a red upper half on the plane and wings with a white lower portion. Lettering on the wings is white. The propeller is white on this plane.
- The less common color combination is a white upper half on the plane and wings with a red lower portion. Lettering on the wings is red. The propeller is red on this plane.
