- 6736 Detroit & Mackinac
Product Description
Production: 1960 - 1962
History
The 6736 Detroit & Mackinac hopper is an open quad hopper produced by Lionel in the early 1960s. During its production run, Lionel included this hopper in one Super-O set for 1960 and two Super-O sets for 1961. Experienced collectors believe the 6736 was not manufactured in 1962, but rather catalogued to sell excess inventory. Collector quality examples are difficult to locate and will command a premium.
Features
Standard features on the 6736 include: red painted body with white lettering, a single brakewheel, spreader bar and AAR trucks with two operating couplers.
There is a hard to find version having a partly filled in face within the emblem (or logo) on the side of the hopper. This is commonly known as a factory error and will command a premium in price.
