- LTC Illuminated Lockon
Product Description
Production: 1950 - 1969
History
The LTC is a rather simply design and nothing more than an upgraded CTC Lockon with a light. The light on the LTC remains illuminated whenever power is applied to the track. Over the years this has become a favorite item of many operators as it's a quick and easy way to determine when power is being applied to the track.
From a collectors perspective, the value of an original LTC is locating one that is 100% complete as originally sold by Lionel. This would include a solid box, instructions, coiled wire and in the early years an inspection tag. Since the product remained in production for 20 years, it's not surprising to learn there are several variations to the box; Middle Classic, Stamped OPS, Late Classic, Bold Classic, Glossy Classic and Orange Picture. In today's marketplace, the style, condition and completeness of an original box and components are the main driver of the cost -- not the LTC itself.
Features
Standard features of the LTC include: black plastic base that snaps into 027 or O gauge track, two metal electrical posts with binding nuts, light bulb and green lens cover. The lamp is illuminated whenever power is applied to the track.
