- 1065 Union Pacific
Product Description
Production: 1961
History
The 1065 Union Pacific Alco A was shown in only one catalogue -- the 1961 Advanced Dealer catalogue. Although its catalogue appearance was limited to a single year, the diesel remained available in uncatalogued sets for several additional years.
Features
Standard features of the 1065 Union Pacific include: yellow painted body with red lettering and a red stripe, closed front pilot, headlight, non-operating rear coupler plus a weight riveted to the rear of the shell on the interior.
This diesel did not include an E-unit, front coupler, frame box (located between the trucks) or an ornamental horn. This 'plain Jane' Alco is a forward only diesel whose pulling power is limited to two, possibly three, freight cars.
Additional Detail, Photos & Box Information
The length of this type of Alco is approximately 11" long (front pilot to rear coupler).
Only Known Variation - All 1065's are painted yellow with red lettering and stripe. Even though the 1065 has few features -- there remains a niche market for Lionel Alcos in collector condition.
