Product Description
Production: 1964
History
The 213 Minneapolis & St. Louis (M. & St. L.) Alco diesel was available for a single year and is one of the more scarce Alco's manufactured by Lionel. It was offered as a AA unit and included in one catalogued 027 gauge freight set for 1964, but was included in several uncatalogued sets for different department stores and retailers.
As with most of the later Alco series diesels, the front apron is usually the weak point and are frequently found cracked or completely missing. Finding a unit with intact, undamaged from aprons is difficult.
Features
Standard features of the 213 include: red painted body with white lettering and a white side stripe, traction tires, two-position E-unit, headlight plus non-operating front & rear couplers. Additionally, the power unit has a circular weight mounted to the rear interior of the shell.
