2359 Boston & Maine

Quantity:

Product Description

Production: 1961 & 1962

History
The 2359 Boston & Maine GP9 diesel is almost identical to the 2346 Boston & Main GP9 produced in the mid 1960's. Although not mentioned in current reference guides, the 2359 B & M GP-9 diesel is significantly harder to locate compared to the later 2346 B & M diesel. Additionally, Lionel included this Boston & Maine diesel as the locomotive of choice for two space age sets, one in 1961 and a slightly different set in 1962.

The 2359 included many premium features frequently missing on Lionel's GP7's and GP9's produced during the 1960's. To this day, collectors and operators still actively seek this engine as it is both a colorful engine with realistic graphics and markings as well as a very reliable diesel.

Features
The 2359 Boston & Maine offered the following standard features: painted blue body, black painted ends, white lettering, three-position E-unit, two-axle Magnetraction, front and rear operating couplers, operating horn plus a headlight at each end and simulated horn on the shell. The frame and side railings are painted white.

Additional Detail, Photos & Box Information
