History
The 6250 Seaboard NW2 diesel switcher is the last of the higher quality switchers produced by Lionel in the postwar era. It is a reliable diesel with excellent workmanship and attention to detail. The colorful paint scheme and realistic graphics have made this a sought-after diesel by both collectors and operators. Even in today's marketplace, it remains a desirable locomotive.

This Seaboard diesel switcher was included in only one set in 1954 -- which happened to be Lionel's top-of-the-line 027 gauge set for the year. Components of the set were all work train freight cars.

Features
Standard features of the 6250 includes: blue and orange painted cab with unpainted blue smokestacks, two axle Magnetraction, three-position E-unit, headlight and wire hand railings at each end, dual operating coil type couplers, front marker lights plus Seaboard lettering and medallion on each side, black ornamental bell, silver ornamental horn and a radio wheel.

Decal for Seaboard lettering - Shown in first photo above - The most common version of the 6250 uses a decal for the Seaboard lettering on the side of the hood. These decals are prone to flaking and it's quite common to find some -- or most -- of the decal missing.
Rubber-stamped Seaboard Lettering (Second photo above) - Some 6250s were manufactured with the Seaboard lettering rubber-stamped onto the side of the blue engine hood. The rubber-stamped versions are available in either closely spaced or widely spaced versions -- both being hard to locate.
