334 Dispatch Board

Quantity:

Product Description

Production:  1957 - 1960

History
The 334 Dispatch Board is loosely based upon a typical dispatch board found in many of the larger US railroad passenger terminals during the post-World War II era. Although the proportions are large compared to normal O gauge equipment the Lionel engineers did create an interesting accessory to watch operation a layout.

When introduced in 1957, this accessory was a poor seller. Experienced collectors believe it was only produced for a single year (1957) and included in the Lionel consumer catalogue the next three years in an effort to sell excess inventory. These days, a complete, fully functional Dispatch Board is hard to find.

Features
The 334 Dispatch Board has a gray plastic base, green dispatch board and a blue attendant. The interior is illuminated and the accessory was sold with a 90C controller.

It is interesting to note the front and rear are both illuminated and include different signage. The front has the well-known dispatch board while the rear is an advertisement for Airex fishing equipment.

Additional Detail, Photos & Box Information
The base of this accessory is approximately 4" x 10" and it stands 7.5" high.

Only Known Variation - Shown in first photo above - All Dispatch Boards have a gray base with green dispatch board.
